App Store review for @better saying “developer is with fake account promoting his own product.” I’ve had to point out that if I were doing that, we’d have more 5 star reviews 😂 (And trust me, my eyes rolled at that assumption of developer gender.)

You can now watch yesterday’s Small is Beautiful livestream with guest David Heinemeier Hansson, with captions, or read the transcript at small-tech.org/videos/small-is

We covered so many topics! Including Small Tech (vs Big Tech), business models, ethical design, scaling organisations, and much more.

If you missed our Small is Beautiful live stream with David Heinemeier Hansson today, the recording is now available to watch at small-tech.org/small-is-beauti

UK Twitter is talking about how women feel unsafe in public spaces and it’s prompted me to blog about particularly unsafe when travelling for conferences (and I hope conference organisers will listen!)

“Like the majority of Google’s privacy pushes that we’ve seen until now, the FLoC proposal isn’t as user-friendly as you might think. For one thing, others have already pointed out that this proposal doesn’t necessarily stop people from being tracked across the web, it just ensures that Google’s the only one doing it.”

✨checked the app store admin and @better has two new generous and kind reviews (and no new negative reviews!)✨

I need to bottle this feeling. If those reviewers read this, please know you’ve made my day!

Thanks to Sophie and 1Password on Twitter, I’m going to go with 1Password. I already use their apps on my phone and laptop (and they’re really great) so it makes perfect sense. Thank you for all the recommendations!

I should add… don’t mind paying for it (I’d rather it had a sustainable funding model) and if it’s free + open, that’s a plus.

Can anyone recommend a good (privacy-respecting!) 2 factor authentication app?

So far the top recommendations I’ve found are Google and Microsoft’s apps which seems to me to be leaping out of the security frying pan into the privacy fire…

“it’s not clear whether such audits are actually making algorithms less biased—or if they’re simply good PR.”
